The XXIII Annual SAET 2024 Conference will take place in Chile for the first time

2 January, 2024

The purpose of the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory (SAET) is to promote knowledge in theoretical economics and facilitate communication between researchers in economics, mathematics, game theory, or any other field potentially useful for economic theory.

The Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM), the Faculty of Economics and Business – University of Chile (FEN), and the Institute for Research in Market Imperfections and Public Policies (MIPP), will organize the SAET 2024 conference to be held in Chile for the first time.

The XXIII Annual SAET Conference will be at the University of Chile, in the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, from January 8 to 10, 2024. It will have the participation of more than 200 academics from the best universities in the world. All sessions will be in person and the official language of the talks will be in English.

Because the conference works by invitation, general public access will not be possible.

For the Director of the MIPP Millennium Institute, Juan Escobar:

“The organization of SAET 2024 reviews a transcendental importance in the scientific and academic field for the MIPP. This event is one of the world’s most important conferences on economic theory, taking place in Chile for the first time (and the second in Latin America). The conference covers diverse topics in game theory, market design, industrial organization, political economy, macroeconomics, and finance. “SAET 2024 offers the national research community the opportunity to establish connections that promote innovation and synergy in research.”

Juan Escobar, Director of the MIPP Millennium Institute

The plenary speakers are the following:

  • Hervé Moulin – University of Glasgow
  • Vasiliki Skreta – University of Texas at Austin
  • Matthew Jackson – Stanford University
  • Laura Doval – Columbia University
  • Rabah Amir – University of Iowa

SAET

From 1993 to 2009, the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory (SAET) held a biannual conference on current trends in economic theory. Starting in 2010, it became an annual event.

The SAET aims to promote knowledge in theoretical economics and facilitate communication between researchers in economics, mathematics, game theory, or any other field that is potentially useful for economic theory.
