In the fourth issue of our magazine, created with the aim of contributing to the Chilean public debate from a scientific and economic perspective, we focus our analysis on the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on different spheres of society.
Among the articles in this edition, we highlight “The social complexity of the COVID-19 protection measures”, which posits that situations of domestic violence against women may have worsened during the crisis, with an increase in emergency calls related to domestic abuse. In addition, the article “Through the prism of COVID-19: The various macro effects of the pandemic” addresses macro-prudential measures that governments could adopt to mitigate the unforeseen supply/demand shocks caused by the pandemic.
Other pressing topics in Chile and around the world, such as: “Parenting in Pandemic Mode”, “Economic Freedom and Trust”, “The COVID-19 Crisis and the European Union”, and “In Bad Taste: Gender Discrimination in the Consumer Credit Market”, are some of the additional topics upon which our researchers reflect and contribute to the public policy debate.
This edition of the GAZETTE is an additional demonstration of the relevance of economic knowledge in our lives during the course of this global pandemic.
