The second version of The City of Opportunities, an online course on financial and economic education aimed at secondary education teachers, was successfully completed by 252 educators. The initiative is part of the Central en tu Vida program (Central Bank of Chile), and was developed in partnership with the MIPP Millennium Institute of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM), University of Chile.
The President of the Central Bank of Chile, Mario Marcel, the Rector of the University of Chile, Enio Vivaldi, and the Dean of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM), University of Chile, Francisco Martínez led the graduation ceremony held at Patio Inglés of the issuing institute, and delivered the certificates.

The educators who completed this year’s course, which took place between April 29 and August 25, 2019, join the 296 educators certified in 2018, thus reflecting the existing wide interest in acquiring knowledge on these subjects. The nearly 600 teachers who have completed this course are now equipped with the new tools to teach their thousands of students
The course is based on the content established in the curricular benchmarks of the Ministry of Education, specifically the Economics and Social modules in the subjects of History and Social Sciences for Secondary Education, and the financial module of the PISA test.
During the ceremony, awards were presented to the teachers who stood out the most for their academic excellence throughout the course, and who were also distinguished for their final assignment, which involved the design of a lesson plan.
The City of Opportunities is part of the Outreach program (Programa de Proyección al Medio Externo – PME) of the Millennium Science Initiative, whose objective is to disseminate and transmit scientific knowledge to the community.
