This event, held at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Chile and organized by the Millennium Institute MIPP and Mi Barrio Financiero, brought together distinguished experts who shared their insights on the impact of financial education on society and tools for making better financial decisions.
The 2024 Financial Education Seminar took place on Friday, November 8, at 8:30 AM in the PwC Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Chile. It was jointly organized by the Millennium Institute MIPP and Mi Barrio Financiero.
The main objective of this seminar was to promote financial education through leading experts, who shared their knowledge on the societal impact of financial education and practical tools for making informed financial choices.
The seminar featured presentations by:
“The International Financial Education Seminar aimed to contribute to the ongoing discussion on the design of the national strategy for financial inclusion and education. The seminar presented international evidence on financial education initiatives that have effectively improved knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors,” stated Patricio Valenzuela, Researcher at the Millennium Institute MIPP and Professor at the University of the Andes.
One of the international education initiatives presented was introduced by Caio Piza, who shared the evaluation of a financial education program in Brazilian schools.
Additionally, Patricio Valenzuela highlighted how the lack of financial education prevents individuals from managing financial information reliably, directly impacting their financial decisions, assets, and overall well-being.

From the perspective of the Millennium Institute MIPP, the seminar emphasized the need to reduce market imperfections, such as information asymmetry, through effective initiatives and interventions.
