The Director of the MIPP Millennium Institute was selected as “Economic Theory Fellow” by the “Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory”

25 March, 2024

Juan Escobar was chosen as an economic theory fellow due to his scientific excellence, originality, and leadership; high ethical standards; and scholarly and creative achievement.

The “Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory” (SAET) aims to advance knowledge in theoretical economics and to facilitate communication among researchers in economics, mathematics, game theory, or any other field that is potentially useful to economic theory.

This society annually elects “Economic Theory Fellows”, who are selected for their scientific excellence, originality, and leadership; high ethical standards; and scholarly and creative achievement. On this occasion, the Director of the MIPP Millennium Institute and Industrial Engineering academic at the University of Chile, Juan Escobar, was elected.

The contributions of fellows may exist in many areas of theoretical economics, including pure and applied research, and government service. The primary qualification for a fellowship is to have substantially advanced economic theory.

This achievement may be evidenced by an outstanding publication record; strong editorial board service; honorary, scientific, educational and professional achievements, or through the training of graduate students.

On the Fellowship Committee that elected Juan Escobar is Eric Maskin of Harvard University, who received the 2007 Nobel Prize in Economics.

As the MIPP Millennium Institute we want to congratulate our Director for this great achievement,

Congratulations!
