The initiative, organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile, and the Lexen interdisciplinary center, is intended as a learning opportunity for future constituents. It is a space in which the main issues that concern the Political Constitution of the Republic of Chile can be reviewed and discussed.
The “Training Workshop: A New Constitution for Chile, Key Points to a Successful Constitutional Convention” is divided into 21 modules presented through the Zoom platform, which are taught by academics and researchers from the University of Chile, the Pontifical Catholic University, the Diego Portales University, the Center for Public Studies (CEP) and the Center for Conflict and Social Cohesion Studies. Among them, our MIPP Researcher and academic of Industrial Engineering, Alejandro Corvalán, who, together with Francisco Soto, academic at the Faculty of Law, presented the module “Constitutional Reform”.
Both researchers presented a joint work, in which they use global constitutional trends to draw lessons for the Chilean constituent process. The main topics discussed were the comparative analysis of constitutional changes and their fundamental dimensions: State, Government, and rights.
“The course is a learning opportunity for eventual future constituents, as well as for all those interested in understanding what is at stake with this process in Chile” says Corvalán.
The workshop began on December 16 and will run until January 18.
