The full and equal participation of women in all areas of society is a fundamental human right. Nevertheless, women and girls around the world continue to be significantly under-represented: from politics, entertainment to even the workplace.
According to UN Women, the reality is that, although women have been part of various scientific discoveries throughout history, only 30% of the world’s researchers and 35% of science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics (STEM) students are currently women.
Because of this under-representation of women in STEM, the “Scholarship for Women in Economics and Science” seeks to promote the participation of women in economics by granting two full-tuition scholarships (100% cover of the tuition fee, subject to academic performance) to students of the Master’s Degree in Applied Economics (MAGCEA) at the University of Chile.
All female students accepted at MAGCEA for an academic semester are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The scholarship recipients will be selected by the Academic Committee, based on academic performance and each applicant’s ranking.
The application to the Program can be submitted online from April 27 to June 14, 2020, under the “admission” section of the Master’s website: http://www.magcea-uchile.cl/
