Benjamín Villena presents his research on labor economics in Norway and the Netherlands

Benjamín Villena, researcher with the MIPP Millennium Institute and academic of Industrial Engineering, U. of Chile, presented his research at various conferences and international seminars on labor economics in Europe.

At the 9th Annual Search and Matching Conference held in Oslo, Norway, Villena presented the research paper “Labor Markets, Inequality, and Hiring Selection”, co-authored with Alessandra Pizzo of the University of Chile, under the poster session.

Likewise, his co-author, Carlos Lizama of NYU and former student of MagCEA, also presented the paper “Avoiding Layoffs: On-the-job Search and Partial Insurance”, which he co-wrote with Villena.

Finally, the research paper “Wage Cyclicality Revisited: The Role of Hiring Standards”, written by Benjamín Villena, Sekyu Choi (University of Bristol) and Nincen Figueroa (Student of MagCEA, U. of Chile), was presented in the main session of the conference.

This research was also presented by Benjamín Villena at the Macro Seminars series of the Tinbergen Institute in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
