For the fourth time in a row, academics from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEN) and researchers from the MIPP Institute of Industrial Engineering, U. Chile, organized the “Santiago Finance Workshop“, one of the most important conferences in the region in the area.
The workshop is attended by professionals from the area, academic regulators, and national and international researchers.
This edition of the conference had as special guests Toni M. Whited, from the University of Michigan, and Stefan Nagel, from the University of Chicago, both editors of the Journal of Financial Economics and the Journal of Finance, respectively.
The current edition also highlighted the participation of Professor Eduardo Schwartz, former student of the University of Chile, who was also a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), for almost 30 years.
With each passing year, the conference has become a space for the exchange of knowledge and border experiences in the area of finance, gaining wide national and international recognition. For this edition, more than 300 article submissions were received, of which only 10 were selected after a review process.
During the presentations and academic discussions held within the framework of this conference, various topics were addressed, including macro-finance, corporate finance, fin-tech and monetary policy. The authors and presenters of the articles, meanwhile, come from prestigious universities in the United States and Europe. Among the universities that participated in the fourth run of the Santiago Finance Workshop are the University of Chile, University of Michigan, University of Chicago, Columbia University and the University of Manchester, among others.
Finally, thanks to the joint work of the professors from both faculties (FEN and Physical Sciences and Mathematics) of the University of Chile, dedicated to financial research, supported by the Millennium Institute for Market Imperfections and Public Policy (MIPP) and the Banco Central de Chile, this conference consolidates the University of Chile as an important focus of research in national and Latin American finance.
