Second year of MIPP´s “Summer School in Economics” ends in success

3 January, 2017

Thanks to its remarkable courses and highly qualified professors, the “Summer School in Economics”turned out to be a great success on its second year.

Around thirty undergraduate and master students and professionals from the financial and economic institutions, as well as companies, got together during the four day event. The event was organized by the Millennium Institute (MIPP) in collaboration with the Doctorate in Engineering Systems (DSI) and Master´s in Applied Economics (MAGCEA) programs.

This year, the summer school brought together professors from reputable foreign universities, with the purpose of tackling various current topics in economics. For instance, Juan Pablo Atal (University of Pennsylvania) designed the course titled “Demand Estimation with Choice Frictions”.

Similarly, Jorge Lemus (University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign) taught “Innovation Economics”, while Andres Liberman (NYU Stern) led the course “Empirical Corporate Finance”.

Nicolas San Martin, a Master´s in Economics student, stated: “It has been such an interesting week because we have discussed important and current topics in economics. The professors have excellent academic tracks and I think I have learned about issues that will help me with my final thesis.”

Nicolas added: “Personally, I found ‘Empirical Corporate Finance’ particularly appealing because I learned how to apply relation models that not only could affect traditional public policies but could also be applied to other fields, such as finance”.
